[http://rebol.hmkdesign.dk/files/r3/gui/071.png] looks like my
easy-drawer tool ;-)

I'm looking forward to port Canvas RPaint to R3. :-)

In the future, we will need a good repository for draw snipets to
share cool draw blocks.
Perhaps Devbase could have a special section to share those
and another too for animations
*another one too
Henrik

[8020]
yes, that would be cool.
Steeve
12-Nov-2008
[8021]
you should think about a standard definition for such snipets (0
centered, normalized size, etc...)

I like how you distinguished a toggle button.
We needed that. Need it for a rotary also - something to give us
something that tells us "hey I'm a rotary"
Henrik
12-Nov-2008
[8024]
yes, I have some ideas for rotary.
[unknown: 5]
12-Nov-2008
[8025]
I really like Toggle though - good work!
Steeve

[8026]
Yeah Henrik is very good as a style man

Maybe a rotary should be more oval.
rectangular but with an oval border over the face.
Steeve
12-Nov-2008
[8029]
i dislike oval stuffs ;-)
[unknown: 5]
12-Nov-2008
[8030]
yeah I think it still needs to be overall rectangular but something
to distinguish it.
Steeve
12-Nov-2008
[8031]
i will see a stuff like toggle but with arrow instead of bars
[unknown: 5]
12-Nov-2008
[8032]
Good idea also.
Steeve
12-Nov-2008
[8033]
with a slinding text effect when the button is pressed

The fonts look way better in those pictures
Rich text?
Henrik

I hope we can improve the font antialiasing. I know AGG allows many
more tricks with fonts than we can see.
Paul, every single string is basically rich text. We're just not
using it everywhere.
Steeve
12-Nov-2008
[8038]
so we have vectorial modifications capabilities
[unknown: 5]
12-Nov-2008
[8039]
Don't know - just that fonts always look crappy in REBOL2.
Henrik

[8040x2]
In DRAW, when you write some text, you can replace a single string
with a rich text dialect block.
I think you can lift that capability into the style.
[unknown: 5]
12-Nov-2008
[8042]
Yeah I have seen and used that before. But the default text always
looked crappy - I always had to resort to using draw.
Henrik
12-Nov-2008
[8043x2]
yes, that's because in R2, you basically have two different rendering
engines: View for everything VID, and DRAW for special drawings.
In R3 there is only DRAW.
I don't know what R2 View is based on.
[unknown: 5]
12-Nov-2008
[8045]
Well that is already sounding like a dramatic improvement.
Henrik
12-Nov-2008
[8046]
It is. It's much more flexible and thanks to the much lighter View
engine in R3, it eats much less memory and is much faster.
Geomol
12-Nov-2008
[8047]
Sounds good! Flexible, less memory and faster. It's like x-mas! :-)
Pekr

[8048x2]
Paul - there is more to the View engine. It is sometimes reported
being 10 or more times being faster. Whole R2 View compositing engine
was scrapped, and replaced by AGG one. AGG is our main engine now
...
Still REBCODE would be cool for some effects ;-)

Henrik, I need to go change my shirt, I drooled all over myself looking
at all of your styles.
Pekr
13-Nov-2008
[8051x2]
hmm, maybe I should post short script of how to download all the
files at once to your hd :-)
Brock - do you like Henrik's work? Me too. Although I hope we move
away from 80, 90ties grey coloring. I initially did not like Carl's
skin, but now I think it looks cool too :-) I hope it stays as an
alternative :-)

[8053]
For me the buttons are too heavy and I don't have a small resolution
screen at all. But I believe it's easy to change it.
Pekr
13-Nov-2008
[8054]
What do you mean by heavy? Too large?
Oldes
13-Nov-2008
[8055]
and bold
Henrik
13-Nov-2008
[8056]
It's probably the font that does it.
Pekr
13-Nov-2008
[8057]
Henrik - does GUI only resize, or does it also scale? E.g. when I
go for bigger display resolution, if all elements are scaled accordingly?
Henrik

Oldes: http://rebol.hmkdesign.dk/files/r3/gui/104.png
Brock, I hope my best work is yet to come. :-)
Pekr
13-Nov-2008
[8060]
uh, those in the middle are ugly beasts :-) It seems to me that antialiasing
on small, 1px thick lines is creating kind of smears. Is that what
is hinting for?
Henrik
13-Nov-2008
[8061x2]
Pekr, in principle it can scale, as it's a matter of inserting scaling
factors in each draw block, but I don't know how well it will look.
Pekr, that's the font renderer settings, which we can't alter yet.
Pekr
13-Nov-2008
[8063]
yet
means we do plan on altering it?
Henrik
13-Nov-2008
[8064]
I really hope so. I believe AGG offers a lot of font hinting options
that we are not using at all.
