JaimeVargas 24-Sep-2005 [983] | Sorry. I need to go. Have an appointment in 20min and I am 40min away. |
Gabriele 24-Sep-2005 [984] | ok, np |
Ashley 24-Sep-2005 [985] | Site mirrored at http://www.dobeash.com/devcon05/ |
Henrik 24-Sep-2005 [986] | gabriele: testing... |
Gabriele 24-Sep-2005 [987] | let me knos if you can see anything. |
Henrik 24-Sep-2005 [988] | wow, much nicer looking than last time I tested. new camera? |
Gabriele 24-Sep-2005 [989] | nope, same camera. |
Henrik 24-Sep-2005 [990] | I can make out altME on your monitor :-) |
Gabriele 24-Sep-2005 [991] | but, more sun this time ;) |
Henrik 24-Sep-2005 [992x4] | helloo :-) *waves back* |
a few motion artifacts but very good
ok, now it stopped | |
gabriele, by the way, was the clock timer usable?
Gabriele 24-Sep-2005 [996x4] | a bit big for my purpose maybe. i'll try it out anyway. i want to have a special version of show.r with a timer built-in. the idea is that if the speaker is getting late the timer starts to complain ;) |
i wonder why the stream stopped for you...
i really think rtsp is very unreliable.
btw, you using QT or VLC?
Henrik 24-Sep-2005 [1000x2] | vlc |
restarted it and now it works again
Gabriele 24-Sep-2005 [1002x2] | i guess it stops if it misses too many packets. |
do you think it is reliable enough to follow a speech?
Henrik 24-Sep-2005 [1004x5] | audio drops out once in a while |
for about 1/4 second | |
every 2-5 seconds | |
video would be reliable enough for a speech, yes
I'll try QT, hang on... | |
Gabriele 24-Sep-2005 [1009] | ok |
Henrik 24-Sep-2005 [1010x2] | QT gave me 1/2 second of sound and a couple of frames of video |
VLC is much more stable | |
Gabriele 24-Sep-2005 [1012] | i still wonder if there is any way to force DSS to use TCP |
Henrik 24-Sep-2005 [1013] | funny delay in the videostream on your monitor :-) |
Gabriele 24-Sep-2005 [1014x2] | :-) |
DSS does a lot of buffering, 2 or 3 secs or so.
Ashley 24-Sep-2005 [1016] | Where do I grab the DevCon2005 branded version of show.r? |
Gabriele 24-Sep-2005 [1017] | not available yet - will be very soon. |
Henrik 24-Sep-2005 [1018] | gabriele, do you want me to create a scaled down version of the clock? shouldn't be too hard... |
Ashley 24-Sep-2005 [1019] | My plane leaves in 36 hours. ;) |
Gabriele 24-Sep-2005 [1020] | can you think of an effect to make it draw attention when time is less than 5 minutes? |
Henrik 24-Sep-2005 [1021] | it would be easy to make it flash in annoying colors |
Ashley 24-Sep-2005 [1022] | Blur? |
Gabriele 24-Sep-2005 [1023x2] | ok... if you want to play with it... i'd be very happy :) let me start working on show.r in the meantime. |
(so maybe you can work directly on show.r)
Henrik 24-Sep-2005 [1025x2] | ashley: http://hmkdesign.dk/rebol/clock.zipin case you missed it |
(it's a pretty good demo of basic skinning of REBOL GUIs I think)
Ashley 24-Sep-2005 [1027] | Cute, I like it. ;) |
Kaj 24-Sep-2005 [1028] | Totem, the standard player in Gnome, says it has no codec for the stream |
Gabriele 24-Sep-2005 [1029x2] | do you have mplayer too? |
mplayer is likely to work, though not all versions support rtsp. VLC is your best choice.
Henrik 24-Sep-2005 [1031x2] | kaj: are you using totem for gstreamer or totem-xine? |
in my experience gstreamer hardly ever works
