Pekr 30-Sep-2005 [1213] | Cyphre suggested there will be some nice announcements, but professionally refused to give me any hints. So I asked Carl and he told me they will announce some new developments, but could not say more few weeks ago ... |
Brock 30-Sep-2005 [1214] | I'm with Chris, I'm thinking it is a net connection, 'cause Reichart would definitely be here. |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1215] | anyone got Gab's cellphone number? |
Pekr 30-Sep-2005 [1216x2] | .... so - that is only news we know, unless someone knows more ..... Graham, yesterday I got impression (do not remember what your's message was it based upon :-), that you may actually know more :-) |
if someone is onDeveloper's IOS - some ppl put their cell-phones in there ...
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1218x2] | I've had the opportunity to use BEER over the last week. |
I can say no more. | |
Brock 30-Sep-2005 [1220] | you can't even say whether you like it or not? ;-) |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1221] | ie. nothing else for me to say |
Pekr 30-Sep-2005 [1222] | hmm, Gabriele is not on IOS contacts, so ... |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1223] | I guess it needs a bit more fermenting |
Pekr 30-Sep-2005 [1224] | Brock - who would not like the BEER, right? :-) I like lot of beers :-) .... and whisky too :-) |
Brock 30-Sep-2005 [1225] | I knew that was coming. :-) |
Pekr 30-Sep-2005 [1226x2] | Beer is protocol based upon Beep, no? I wonder if it can somehow compare to Uniserve, or both are different kind of products? |
but BEER is not RT's announcement, no? In fact - it may be regarded a competition to LSN imo ....
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1228] | Gabriele is talking about LNS isn't he? |
Pekr 30-Sep-2005 [1229] | yes, he has some presentation on it ... |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1230] | where's the Italian phonebook ? There can't be that many Gabriele's can there? |
Pekr 30-Sep-2005 [1231x3] | :-) |
that is worse than I thought, really. WebSite suggested everything will be professionally prepared, maybe it is, but is it really a problem to at least have one persone here on notebook and provide us with some hints of what is Carl talking about?
Besides that - don't expect off-line video to come anytime soon - Gabriele was talking about weeks, as he needs to grab it, polish it etc.
Brock 30-Sep-2005 [1234x3] | Unfortunately it could simply be that Gabriele had way too much to do in organizing the event and working on last minute changes to LNS for his presentation. |
I recall last year it was Jaime and Gabriele that setup all the video equipment and the feed... maybe just not enough time.
I agree it would be nice if someone gave small updates on AltME - I really have to assume there is an Internet connectivity problem.
Pekr 30-Sep-2005 [1237] | heh, now I remembered something - some 5 years ago, when I was put in the charge for e-business team, we met with one partner from Germany and I asked them, if CZ, as a post-communistic country, has really weak internet connectivity and internet presence, especially in regards to companies. Two guys looked one at each other, started laughing and told us "haha, you've never been in Italy, right?" :-) Nothing against Italy, really, it just came to my mind right now :-) |
Sunanda 30-Sep-2005 [1238] | It seems fair that the priority is for the people at the conferernce. If someone has volunteered to send instant status reports, that'd be nice. If the haven't, we can wait for the official press releases. |
yeksoon 30-Sep-2005 [1239] | 'paying' customers' gets more attention :) |
Pekr 30-Sep-2005 [1240] | Sunanda - the problem is, like with every post amiga related company, that those announcements simply don't come usually :-) |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1241] | What would Charles Dickens say ..? |
Pekr 30-Sep-2005 [1242] | well, today situation is a bit different than one year ago, as we have less formal Carl's blog - so maybe Carl will blog a bit about his presentation, not bothering to prepare some kind of official press release kind of posts ... |
Sunanda 30-Sep-2005 [1243] | Now that would be a problem, Petr :-) Perhaps those of us who didn't go should have paid for one of us to go as reporter. |
Pekr 30-Sep-2005 [1244x2] | Graham - who is Charles Dickens? |
(... a joke :-) | |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1246] | author of "Great Expectations" |
Tomc 30-Sep-2005 [1247] | Please sir.... can I haf s'more |
Pekr 30-Sep-2005 [1248] | ... as for me, I can wait .... I am just saying that it would be fine to have someone here, if not, neve mind, I expect someone will join at least tomorrow ... |
yeksoon 30-Sep-2005 [1249x2] | hahahh...took me sometime to figure that out |
oliver TWIST | |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1251] | Jaime didn't take one of his wireless boxes with him? |
Tomc 30-Sep-2005 [1252] | I expect Reichart will show up with blazing fast fingers and a laptop at some point |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1253] | Is GPRS too old these days? |
Pekr 30-Sep-2005 [1254] | it is rather old, but still working. I have it with my notebook - it is some 54kbit, the trouble is, it does not support compression as general modem units, so 100KB html site is still 100KB |
yeksoon 30-Sep-2005 [1255] | Reichart is on QTask..but dun think I see him here. |
Brock 30-Sep-2005 [1256] | [mad rush to QTask] |
Pekr 30-Sep-2005 [1257] | today there is new standard here - EDGE - it can be nearly 150kbit, should be enough even for SkyPe ..... it runs on top of GPRS modulation or so, but device and mobile points have to support that, so only big towns here currently ... |
yeksoon 30-Sep-2005 [1258x2] | from Reichart.. = They are working on it. For some reason I can't get on AltME == |
in reply..to my question on whether there is a 'live' broadcast
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1260] | and Reichart can't get onto AltME ? Perhaps he's forgotten his password? |
yeksoon 30-Sep-2005 [1261] | R: Also, we have not started yet, but almost there. They are blocking AltME in some way, but not HTM. |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1262] | ahh.. the school's squid server |
