Tablet's (or better all hand recognition) software is something that
doesn't work for a left-handed. I write the characters the other
way. The SW can't handle it :-))

tablet IS slower than paper...;-) I forget what I was going to
'write" with the pen in the 4 minutes it takes XP to boot...

So, just one of those very, very common problems...

I tried to train speech on tablet by reading the fairy tale in the
XP tablet tools...it never recognized anything I spoke (I know my
speech is tough to understand) but even if I said "blah blah blah
blah" the tablet acted like it understood me reading the fairy tale.
Maybe there is a better version.

In fact - I never found use for additional keyboard buttons as handling
sound, player, custom apps launch, sleep and I don't touch mouse
if I don't have to .... there must be something strange with me ...
I even have special keys for cut, copy and paste, but I am used to
old way ctrl + particular-button ....

ah, I have tried some other keyboads, like with the special buttons,
the wireless part of WebTV was nice...but for sure we need to have
REBOL embedded in a wireless keyboard...that would be nice.

The problem with special keys and its usage is, that I don't want
to use such special keys - I do use many PCs actively, notebooks,
and once some PC does not have such keys, it slows my process of
work ...

yeah, Logitech doesn't get it either...I have read lots of laptop
keyboard patents...;-)

The problem with many keyboards is that they are not risc-- they
need to focus on the most frequent actions .
this text is being influenced by speech recognition
it is a lot faster to input text this way when it comes to things
like instant messaging
especially when using a tablet that has no keyboard -- that can be
a big problem

the raisin on a one to get rid of the number pad is that it makes
the keyboard off center

What do you prefer on notebook - touchpad as a mouse, or that IBM's
- how to call it - stick between the keys?

a Korean contact of mine has tried to penetrate the US market with
Tablets for nearly 8 years...and it is still not a winner.

this throws your whole body off center for hours at a time-- this
becomes eight more serious problem if you put the keyboard in your
lap

eight a speech thing?

another problem with modern keyboards is that they are built for
the lowest cost not for the best ergonomics
keyboards are sold at retail prices of between ten to $30.00
that means their manufacturing cost is between five and $15.00 --
so very few companies are motivated to innovate on keyboard design

you can get it 10-30 in Singapore dollars as well (US$1 = SGD$1.63;
approx)

I think the Tablet needs 95% graphics operated computing before it
becomes a market winner.

well, even arrows, delete, insert etc. makes it off-center ... but
- is that really so big problem? I never thought about it that way
... the only thing I need now is wireless keyboard to have it with
me on ma sofa :-)
Carl

by a normally use a $60.00 keyboard that has an ergonomic split and
is also wireless but the company , logitek has stopped making it
-- unfortunately

some of the ergonomics have not yet been worked out by them either...;-)

Pekr, you can take a look at IBM Thinkpad's keyboard. They have manage
to make it balanced with the arrow keys and stuffs.

A lot of the other laptops manufacturers don't get it, even Apple.
(and I use Macs as well)
Carl

the reason it is a big problem is that when you're sitting in the
same place for ten or more hours in a little thing in every little
thing will eventually effect you
eFishAnt
22-Jan-2005
[129]
effect .... Speech? or are you typing?

Microsoft speech recognition really sucks all
Pekr

yeksoon - but I hate it ... switching between 3 notebooks each of
different brands every of them has arrows, delete, insert etc. keys
at different positions ....

more than twenty years all

Carl, maybe you can create custom speach dialect ... even MS words
let's you to write your own corrections ... so just link some your
speach habits and tell app what should it say instead :-)
MS Word
Carl
22-Jan-2005
[139x2]
unfortunately all it is not a lot better today than all it was all
all all all twenty years ago
do you really think I'll use Microsoft word all all
eFishAnt

[141]
so can you speak a REBOL script into here? Oops forgot, not Messenger
where do [ view/new layout [ box ] ] can be done...
Pekr
22-Jan-2005
[142]
no, that was just example ... dunno if speach sw would allow anything
like that ... so you would teach it to some of your speach patterns
and tell it how to interpret it ....
Carl
22-Jan-2005
[143x2]
let me try all
first let me turn off this bill because it is messing up the speech
recognition I think that is where the word call is coming from all
all
