ANN: The SURFNet Detective

 [1/4] from: maarten::vrijheid::net at: 20-Sep-2004 16:42

Hi List, I am proud to announce the SURFnet Detective, a REBOL application that runs on top of Linux and Windows (FreeBSD and Solaris will follow). It is open source, and the sources can be downloaded from: http://detective.surfnet.nl/SURFnetDetective.zip The main distro is available at: http://detective.surfnet.nl/en/index_en.html#download You may find many interesting code in the supporting libraries, such as a timer system, localization etc. And a version of Temple (web template system), a build-on-demand web system and many more. The installer has been made with Roxy, Gregg's superb install toolkit. Sample files for Roxy are in the distro, and once Gregg cleans up the Roxy distro that will be released a sopen source as well. May thanks go out to our Detective team: Gabriele, Romano, Chris and Nenad (v1) and of course my colleagues from SURFnet, Bart Kerver and Klaas Wierenga. Enjoy, set it up for your own organization and spread the word! --Maarten

Hi Tom, On Monday, September 20, 2004, 8:31:11 PM, you wrote: TC> [[tomc--aught] ~]$ /tmp/client-linux/setup TC> Segmentation fault (core dumped) View on Unix has a number of problems, we have somewhet worked around them in the Detective, but not in Roxy. Anyway, it seems that it segfaults after completing correctly the installation, so this is not a big issue luckily. If it didn't complete the installation in your case, please let me know. hi Gabriele, this is on RH Linux, not Unix, well, maybe for loose definitions. I wrote Maarten that I am not seeing a list of tests in the left window and that hitting "Perform Tests" yeilds alert saying: Should not happen: stop needs a value. Please restart the program.
