 [1/11] from: gabriele::colellachiara::com at: 20-Mar-2007 19:47

Hello all, the REBOL/SDK 2.7.5 for Mac OS X has been released. http://www.rebol.net/builds/index.html http://www.rebol.net/builds/sdk/sdk-2705024.tar.gz The more people can test it, the sooner it will be out of beta. :) Regards, Gabriele. -- Gabriele Santilli <gabriele-rebol.com> --- http://www.rebol.com/ Colella Chiara software division --- http://www.colellachiara.com/

Gabriele I see new builds for Linux as well. Are they with or without AGG font support? On 3/21/07, Gabriele Santilli <gabriele-colellachiara.com> wrote:

How should we submit feedback? Apologies, been out of the REBOL loop for a while so I'm a little out of touch - but would like to help test. What areas if any specifically need review? RebView fired up fine - feedback for it follows. The following demos worked well so far - Gel, Particles, Easy VID All the games worked well. Some interaction in RebGUI is missing or questionable - 1. In Field, Area - I can't get Ctrl-S for spell check to fire with wither Ctrl-S or Apple-S. 2. In Field, Field - Are Ctrl-Z and Esc supposed to restore the whole state of the field? I get single character by character restore on Ctrl-Z and whole field on Esc. 3. In List, Edit-List - Are the drop-list and edit-list supposed to be navigable by the keyboard or only the mouse? I can't apply focus to them and then use the keyboard to select but that may be how they are designed. 4. In List, Table - How are you supposed to select multiple rows - can't get it to do that assuming that is what the single/multi button is about? Same issue in List, Text-List can't multi-select. 5. In Requestors, Request-file and request-dir fill-ins - I noticed that Apple+left/right arrow seem to move word by word rather than beginning and end. Not sure if this is intentional or not. It looks really good so far! Thanks, Rod.

Try this: http://www.rebol.com/feedback.html

This is a little bit misleading of the tour. Ashley said you have to download a dictionary separately to get that to work, if I remember correctly.

So, does this mean those with the SDK can now create encaped apps for the Mac as well? According to the REBOL site, you currently get 'Three REBOL encapsulators' with the SDK, which I assume means for Windows, Linux, and, umm, OpenBSD? Or is the third one Solaris? So I'm assuming the Mac version will be the fourth. Can anyone confirm whether that's right or not (and that you'll now get a Mac encapsulator if you buy the SDK)? -- Carl Read. I think what is meant is different runtime environments for the same OS: enface, enpro and enbase. Speaking of which: What's the story on cross compilation? I would like to get rid of Windows here, but still be able to build Windows binaries. -- Regards, Henrik Mikael Kristensen

Hi Henrik, HMK> Speaking of which: What's the story on cross compilation? I would HMK> like to get rid of Windows here, but still be able to build Windows HMK> binaries. I haven't heard of any plans for that from RT. Gabriele did it for the Detective, farming out build requests to machines on the network that ran the target OS and returned a ready-to-run installer for that platform. It shouldn't be too hard to set that up as a service, though you need trusted machines and either a fee structure, or a way to check license keys submitted with an encap request. --Gregg

hi Henrik, or just run a VM on your machine specifically for encapping. one of the core reasons VMs exist for many. (cross-platform compilation/testing). -MAx On 3/21/07, Gregg Irwin <gregg.irwin-gmail.com> wrote:

I'm doing it myself as a service now, for on-demand compilation of Windows executables. It would be nice, not having to waste money on a Windows license for that on a dedicated compile server. Oh, well. :-) -- Regards, Henrik Mikael Kristensen

Which is esentially what I would want. I'd kinda assumed it was already possible! Hence I was hoping the Mac SDK would've added one more to the list. RT really need to tidy up the website so potential customers can get a reasonable idea of what they'd actually be buying...

Hi Graham, On Tuesday, March 20, 2007, 8:58:51 PM, you wrote: GC> I see new builds for Linux as well. Are they with or without AGG font support? I don't know, I haven't tried. :) They should just match the 2.7.5 View release, so if it didn't work there, I don't think it's working in this new build. I'd suggest you trying though. ;) Regards, Gabriele. -- Gabriele Santilli <gabriele-rebol.com> --- http://www.rebol.com/ Colella Chiara software division --- http://www.colellachiara.com/
