As I understand it, Core is extracted from View, or at least used to be. (The developement of Express might have affected this - I wouldn't know.) Carl Sassenrath suggested once that View should be the base product, (ie. no core), but protests here were quite loud and it didn't happen. (: /> Additionally, I think /View should be offered for free as well. It'd be nice to know either way what it's commercial status is to be. Trying to find any real information about View via the REBOL website's frontpage now seems to be impossible. I just found the old docs, but I had to use a search engine to do it. I agree that View needs to be free if it's to become popular. (In the way that Flash is popular.) To reach Flash's level of popularity though, drawing, sound and (hopefully) 3D support will also be needed. It's hard to be a View evangelist when it has no drawing or sound support, or when your "Have a look at this script!" emails just receive the "My View's expired again." response. I'm hopeful though that after Express leaves beta RT will "finish" View and it'll be released under the same conditions as Core. It'd just be nice to know for sure that that is what RT is planning. -- Carl Read [carl--cybercraft--co--nz]
