[REBOL] [LIBRARY] Announcement: New release of script library

From: greggirwin::mindspring::com at: 22-Sep-2003 10:00

Announcement: New release of script library We've just made a major release of the REBOL Script Library! http://www.rebol.org It's easier to add new scripts immediately and much more interactive; you can add documentation to your scripts, and anyone can contribute to a discussion of the script. NEW FEATURES ** You can join the Library as an official contributor, giving you access to all the new features. You will need to have cookies turned on for this to work. Yeah, we know, we don't like cookies all that much either, but that's the way it is right now. ** You can add new scripts immediately without having to wait for a Librarian to do it for you days later. ** You can add formatted documentation to any script you own. Formats supported are Make-Doc-Pro (thanks to Robert Muench) and eText (thanks to Andrew Martin). ** Anyone can start, or contribute to, a discussion thread about a script. So you can ask questions, report problems, request enhancements, etc. The script's owner can moderate the thread, remove out of date questions, etc. ** You can request ownership of any script -- right now, all 460+ scripts in the Library are "unowned". Once you've joined the Library, you can use the Control panel to request ownership of any unowned script. A moderator will have to approve ownership requests, but we'll do our best to stay on top of them so you don't have to wait too long. If you request ownership of a script that was authored by someone else, we may try to contact them out of courtesy, but they may be happy to have to maintain them! ** You can share ownership with other users -- so you and other people you choose can update a script or its documentation. ** You can check to see if there is any recent discussion about a script. OLD FEATURES You can still use all the old facilities of the Library wthout being logged on. ** Search scripts by type or any word. ** Download all scripts with an integrated search facility Hope you like it! Please use the feedback form to report the inevitable teething problems. There are some issues we're aware of, and some I'm sure we aren't. Huge thanks to Sunanda for taking the initiative on all this and getting the job done in heroic fashion. Thanks also to Andrew, Robert, and Volker for their support in getting it to this stage. --Gregg
