Last I looked at Google groups, the interface was so ugly, that I
imediatelly refused to use it. Now looking at it, it does not look so
bad. However - what is it, a BBS? Let's sum up our recent channels:
- AltME - fast, instant messaging, ability to share, private chat,
bugreport, callendar, checklist. Easy to set-up, not that difficult to
get in, client works from USB flash
- ML - not so used today, but classic tool, very heavily used in the past
- RebTalk - non official REBOL BBS
- Carl's blog comments - mostly one-sided communication
As for Carl's blogs, you surely realised, that Carl plus few ppl on
r3-alpha were trying to decide upon communication channels. Not sure
decision was made, but it seems that many ppl would welcome official
RT's forum. The talk was between systems like phpBB, vBulletin, myBB,
but also something more easy, REBOL based. In that regard, Oldes is
working on BBS. Nothing was decided yet.
... so, I am not sure it is wise nowadays to start - yet-another
communication channel, but - maybe it takes-up, so who knows ...
