I agree. I'd had the following in my user.r ... if (not none? system/view) [ system/view/screen-face/size: 800x600 system/view/screen-face/options: [ exclusive-colors: true ] ] which ran View programs on its own screen. You'd get a screen-requestor the first time you ran a program, the screen staying open till you ended the console session. Now, with View1.1, it's the same with the Desktop, but launching a program from the Desktop forces you to open a screen just for it. Which is a bit overkill for the calculator or clock... As this isn't a practical way to work, I gather we're stuck with the Desktop on Workbench. Unless there's a condition we could add to user.r to prevent REBOL opening more than one screen? That said, even when running on Workbench you see 4megs of memory dissapear by just launching the calculator - or anything for that matter. This isn't ideal RT! Yes, I know you'd know it...
