The problem I see is that this would break the intuitive rule that
INDEX? is between 1 and LENGTH?. I.e. it would need to be clearly
documented and newbies would need to be pointed out that INDEX?
can in some occasions be out of range, with examples.
Otherwise we would just be getting much more bugs than it could
solve. (Anyway, the proposal I and Romano sent to feedback asked
for a different solution to the problem; I still think it would be
better.)
