[REBOL] Re: Cost of training.

From: thundrebol::yahoo::com at: 19-Oct-2001 5:58

I think a computer-based training program for REBOL could be pretty effective. IMHO, the learning curve for beginners is similar to that of spoken/written languages: * vocabulary * the "flow" of the syntax * mastery of the above to take advantage of REBOL's expressiveness * Idioms, gotcha's and situational "tricks" Most of this can be addressed with brief instruction, repetition/memorization and learning-by-doing. The key is that the interactive parts should be really engaging. For example, check out a teaching-game that IBM did for Java: Robocode Game http://robocode.alphaworks.ibm.com/home/home.html . If anyone here has bandwidth and is itchin' to build some instructional games, let us all know. It would be a great contribution to the REBOL cause.
