How many people on Mac OS9 are paying for:
Filemaker (www.filemaker.com as database)
Lasso (www.blueworld.com - as middleware)
or WebSiphon (www.purity.com - as middleware)
WebStar (www.starnine.com as server )
??
I think half of those users will switch to apache-maysql-php4
or other *nix solution because:
webstar is doing lots of promesses..,but Apache just work and is free
filemaker (tourtle database??)
lasso:
here is the point: lasso can't compete in no way with rebol and people
when upgrading to OSX will probably look for alternatives.
why not rebol?
I did, I'm a very happy guy 8)
what I miss:
I hate JAVA but on OSX, java applications can easly integrate aqua
interface, would it be possible for rebol/view to access it ?
Applescript: system scripting language, very powerful for interapplication
communication but tooo much code to write, can't compete with rebol, so it
would be really nice to have rebol as an OSA script or a rebol dialect
generating applescipt code.
1more point:
I would say 80% or more mac people have no clue of *nix but going to OSX
they will at some time go to the terminal application and discover shells..
Live could be so easy if they could use rebol as shell, cgi
programming, interapplication communication and of course multiplatform
(already embedded) communication..
sorry for my really bad english 8((
PS: current xpers of core for OSX is expired and released version 2.2 is
not working well with network stuf. Tonight at 24:00 , OSX will be released
any chance to have an updated xpers 8))))))))))))))))))))))))
greatings,
