A useless comment
Hello, I am waiting for Rebol/View for Mac OS X since 2 years. I think that the Rebol team is not productive and very slow. Actually, I am fed up, and I think I will forget this wonderful language mainly accessible for the win32 platform....what a shame! Regards, Miguel

It is coming but the wait is excruciating. Yesterday, I was rushing to get View running on something and here is =20 a summary of my experience: - My Cube refuses to boot with a Mac OS 9.1 disk since I have an upgraded processor. No way to install Classic without booting and installing a valid Mac OS 9 system. Anyway, my last experience with Rebol on Mac OS 8 wasn't great, due to limitations of that environment. - UAE is very slow, even when using the JIT version on a 1.2 Ghz processor with lot of cache. There is a network problem too: View can't connect via the emulated bsdsocket while other applications can. - Qemu is even slower and I have no space left to host a 2-8 Go image =20 of a Linux environment. - In last resort, I was ready to partition my disk in order to install Debian, but the installer refuses keyboard input and I didn't =20 go further than the "select your language" screen. It seems that new input device layer in the kernel doesn't work on some PowerMac. Now, I am a bit embarrassed as I need to write some demos for a cross-=20 platform application and I keep promising that View is a efficient tool for this kind of purpose. Any idea of a release date? Any progress since that report [1]? [1] http://rebolfrance.info/articles/osximp Le 01-juil.-05 =E0 07:51, Miguel Lopez a =E9crit :

One question - do you guys read http://www.rebol.net? Are you part of AltME world? Because once again - if you would be, you would know Rebol is kind of LIVE last months. I can understand Miguel's frustration, but we went thru much darker ages with RT. Now I believe OS/X port is some weeks, or 2 - 3 moths ahead. Here's link to latest Carl's blog. I think OS-X is pretty high on to-do list. View 1.3 is done for two or so weeks, I hope we get SDK really soon, and ports to other platforms will follow shortly. http://www.rebol.net/article/0181.html In any case, maybe Carl does not read on ml, but maybe guys like Cyphre, Gabriele or Gregg, who helped RT with 1.3, know some internals they could share? -pekr-
