it already does.

2 years already on the Efika, you just need to just a way to got it on
the CherryPC image.
and thats were Rebol Inc REALLY falls down a lot,as its deemed to
simple a thing and yet takes some time to let ordinary users know it
exists, thats left to user advocacy and that doesn't seem to have worked
so far.
no ready made rebol view GUI for my VLC/Mplayer etc , no use to me
then type thinking.
ill just search for a ready made GUI that uses python,GTK,or any No of other
existing scripts found on goggle, that dont do it as good or as smal
or as self contained as rebol view, but they dont care as long as
it does most of what they want out the box..... ;(
there have been many opportunity's to get rebol on several key distro's in
the past, RTP(QNX6)to name but one, not to mention al the Nix etc all
for the sake of a few GUI tcp:ip/UDP front ends etc being produced for the likes of
VLC cross-platform video streamer/player and all the others, and
providing these self contained scripts and binary's as whole packages
to include were ever.... alas its not been deemed important enough to
make these simple fully working GUI's and let people know they exist
for inclusion for free use.....
the same will also happen with this mass PR offensive the CherryPC
(Efika clone by any other name) PowerPC based SOC, as no rebol coder wants to
make the time to create, test and inform the general public that these
new free GUI products (rebol scripts +view in an easy to click and
one time install exe)exist....
its going no were in the end users eyes if they even know or care it
exists, i will say again, nice simple plug-in GUI video steaming
scripts to all the popular CLI capable apps will do far more for R3
etc than any boffin coder talk, and no real working scripts to show
them, and let them use their apps, then perhaps base their new efforts on these
core scripts and share widely....
take a look at the VLC http remote control for something that NEEDS a
Rebol view and core drop in client/server making for it and replace the
dreadful mess thats there now....that will do more for core and view
in many peoples eyes....

On a related note, I saw this article on CodingHorror.com the other day:
Building Tiny, Ultra-Low-Power PCs
http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/001156.html
R3 is a decade's worth worth of work being handled by a few people on a
limited basis. RT works on the core technology, and the rest will be up to
us. I think many would agree that Efika and other platforms would be great
opportunities for REBOL. I think it's a good idea to carefully describe some
of the key use-cases or scenarios which which would be highly desirable for
R3 to support. Other than that, it's up to us to build the future.
One other thought, of course, would be to raise some funds or collect
donations to pay RT to build in certain functionality. If anyone knows if RT
is open to that avenue, it might be an avenue for us to have RT open up
REBOL to a whole new community of users.

The difference between Efika and CherryPal...

8 hits vs 260+...
I know someone with an Efika. I asked him if it ran REBOL, but he didn't know.

Indeed. If I want to find out what the CherryPal supports, I look on the CherryPal site.
(Where I notice they tell you it supports Flash.)

It's REBOL Inc's job to get it on the platforms, not the users'. The users' job is to
write scripts. And 'platforms' now days means web-browsers. They seem to have missed
the boat with getting web-hosts to adopt REBOL...

... guys, stop use false arguments, which just fit your opinion. Who cares about news?
The only truth here is, that EFIKA is much more known, it was reviewed, it runs plenty
of OSes, it has its community of users, it is known by power.org, it is recognised by
Freescale, etc. etc. If you run GENERAL google query, you will see quite different measures.
So how accurate is your above NEWS coverage? Do you know anyone with CherryPal actually?
I bet you don't. Simply put - sometimes you need a little bit of a luck. And as for CherryPal,
their luck is hype over internet. Once someone writes some article, others start to quote
it ...
> I know someone with an Efika. I asked him if it ran REBOL, but he didn't know.
It might run some arcane ppc version of REBOL, but I doubt it. I was asked by bbrv to
actually coordinaty REBOL porting effort for various Efika OSes, but you know how it
goes - in order to get R2 running there, RT would have to do the work themselves. With
R3, it will be quite different story ...

No, it is not REBOL Inc's job. The strategy is clear and it was blogged, so I wonder
guys, if you care to read blogs carefully? :-) R3 is completly different architecture,
and we wait for some things to be finished first, and once in certain state, ALL host
+ View source codes are going to be uploaded into DevBase. The only thing which is going
to be kept private is REBOL danamic library, which is cross-platform (so the only thing
RT needs to do in order to support another platforms is to recompile it). So - the porting
effort can be done by the community, and that it really a different story to R2 ....
As for webhosts - I can see no problem with CGI. And host I communicated with were even
willing to "install" REBOL for me. If they are not - find different host. But - who wants
to use REBOL as a php replacement anyway? I think it is not its target role, although
I use it that way too ...
Cheers,

That's the way you use it, I've used it, and numerous others. I think
it's sensible to remain open to a deployment channel that enjoys
developer attention. Although not everyone wants to swap out php for
REBOL, I think interest could rise if REBOL were more optimized to the
task.
If you consider scripting popularity -- python, ruby, perl and php--
all rose to prominence with strong support for web-app frameworks.
Even Java owes its standing to the server environment.
On the server host, there is still some diversity in platforms and
languages. The desktop environment is foreboding for a small,
proprietary vendor. This environment translates to direct competition
with Adobe (AIR/Flex), Microsoft (WPF, Silverlight), Netscape (Prism),
and a handful of other not-insignificant players (Curl Nitro, Open
Laszlo, etc.).

Thank you for talking about the CherryPal. I'm linking to this
page from my blog at http://cherrypal.blogspot.com CherryPal=E2=84=A2
replaced the C100 with the 8GB SSD C114 - still the same price!!!
The CherryPal=E2=84=A2 C114 desktop is about the size of a paperback
book, but has the performance you would expect from a full-size
desktop computer. Freescale's fast triple-core mobileGT processor
delivers exceptional multimedia performance and feature-rich user
interfaces, while only consuming as much power as a clock radio.
CherryPal uses 80 percent fewer components than a traditional PC,
and because it has no moving parts, it operates without making a
sound and will last 10 years or more. "The first CherryPals will
get shipped on US election day, November 4th, guaranteed. We were
able to upgrade the C100 to the C114 for the same low price. We
increased the local Solid State Disk Drive from 4GB to 8GB and
slightly changed the casing, lighter and slimmer, very cool. I am
sure you will like it." Please visit CherryPal 4Every1 (CPFE)
