Enhancement Request - Rebol on new Amiga

 [1/5] from: al::bri::xtra::co::nz at: 15-Dec-2000 10:14

It would be very nice if Rebol ran on the new Amiga: http://www.amiga.com/press/zine/4-17-00/AW7.htm Andrew Martin

Heya Al, ABxcn> It would be very nice if Rebol ran on the new Amiga: ABxcn> http://www.amiga.com/press/zine/4-17-00/AW7.htm Call my cynical (I did my stint as an Amiga advocate for a number of years) but does that page not just seem like the same pile of enthusiastic idealistic rhetoric that has plagued the Amiga through it's multiple abortive rebirths? Words really ARE cheap. IMO there's a hell of a lot of real platforms right here and now that Rebol out to be running on such as EPOC32! -- Mat Bettinson - EuroGamer's Gaming Evangelist with a Goatee http://www.eurogamer.net | http://www.eurogamer-network.com

It is idealistic. But we need ideals, don't we? It's true about our filesystems. They are an old design. Simple and easy to implement at the beginning, but lead to big problems later. I would like to see those guys succeed and I will help them as I can. The Virtual Processor code looks good to me for the same reason as rebol - architecture independance. But rebol as we know it now is slow at certain tasks. It would be excellent to use rebol/command to include VP code libraries. Then you have a mix of assembler and high-level rebol, but still have platform independance. Anton.

As far as I know it does or at least View does. Holger did a port. http://www.rebol.com/xpers/core271.tar.gz The Amiga DE is quite amazing, saw Bill McEwen demo it in October, same time as the new machines where announced. Cheers, Allen K
