REBOL license

 [1/8] from: henri:morlaye::gmail at: 29-Nov-2005 20:21

Hello, I didn't manage to found precise informations about the license on rebol's website. What license do I need to be able to redistribute freely a software done in rebol and exposing the interpreter to the user, letting him create plugins and do macros and redistributes them freely ? Henri

I believe you'll need to contact REBOL Technologies directly about this. Please let us know what you learn; licensing questions surface from time-to-time on this list, but the answers are often left to interpretation or are inconclusive. On 11/29/05, Henri Morlaye wrote:

AFAIK its: sell your app as expensive as a similar rebol. With interpreter enabled you sell basically a full rebol. This way you cant outcompete them with their own stuff. But AFAIK, better ask. On 11/29/05, Ed O'Connor <edoconnor-gmail.com> wrote:

Your question doesn't contain enough information for me to give you an answer. What is necessary to know is which version of REBOL you intend to use. -L

encaped or not encaped, that is the question... You can sell a script. Rebol/View (not pro) can be distributed (with license). If you encaped this script in an exe (with sdk), you can't sell this app like a new rebol interpreter. (your app can't evalue rebol user expression : no 'load, no 'do). Charles.

ok, thanks. Now imagine that I would like to have /pro encaped in my program for internal use, but I would like to expose only a /view interpreter encaped to the user. Could it be possible for me to do that, and what license do I need, how much would it cost me ? Henri
