I posted this to Advocacy forum in Altme REBOL3

This is already a breach of Robert's Rules, which is why I suggested Bob's (a made up name). By rule, I cannot speak to this issue until everyone is given a chance to speak once. Another reason to modify Robert to Bob as we may not know "who is in the room". I'm volunteering to keep minutes. Sincerely, Brian Tiffin btiffin: Proposal; Who would be interested in an Online REBOL User Group? Initial Mandate: Prepare an Executive Summary of current events for publication to RT. Other Mandates: Local branches, Advocacy, Formalizing REBOL in the global community, Formalizing beta tests, Suggesting Best Code practices, Serious REBOL, Fun REBOL. More, given member initiative. Following Bob's Rules of Order (say a less formal Robert's Rules of order http://robertsrules.org due the telephony involved) the first order of business is determining if this is worth pursuing. Main Motion; Should there be a formalized REBOL User Group? The floor is open..., 23-May-2007 7:10:50 PM

Lets start by looking at the current situation: AFAIK there is a rebol forum, but its not very active. The people in France have a pretty active user community, but its, well, french speaking (which is ok really). IMHO The reason altme is in use is because of the instant messaging. This list serves as a offline community, but not much in the sense of RT sanctioned and actually participation. the closest to that probably is the current various Blogs maintained by Carl. In any case, you should apply for the perfect rebol advocate on the rebol.com site... I in fact already gave Carl a vote for you if you ever want to apply. IMHO you are THE perfect candidate. I think an official site like amiga world or amiga.org would be very nice. something completely web visible, for sure. IMHO we should be using rebol.org as the domain. and I'm sure Sunanda would be happy to get some extra hands in adding/managing all of the stuff that's already there. what I am wondering, is how much cleanup could be done in order to change rebol.org mission to a "script library" to something much more... The first online glimpses of the Revault are almost ready... even if it will only be half functional (read as most things manual instead of automatic), I think this might be a good way to look at starting just what you propose. maybe its simply time for rebol.org to expand and be a junction for many services. one of them an online and moderated forum, a replacement for the rebol week (same team, same mission, just a better toolset, and more punctual news feeds) maybe also a place for RT to post stuff and other services like those you mention. -MAx On 5/23/07, Brian Tiffin <btiffin-rogers.com> wrote:

The First Meeting for the formation of the International REBOL User Association (name to change) is being called to order in the IRUA forum of the Altme REBOL3 world. This first meeting is scheduled to last at least 72 hours with 6 motions put to the floor. Cheers, Brian On Wednesday 23 May 2007 19:41, Brian Tiffin wrote:
