Vanilla wont run at my server

 [1/5] from: carlos:lorenz:bol at: 16-Oct-2003 18:27

Hi all, After downloaded Vanilla I have followed all the steps of installation described at the site but yet I could not get it to run at the server I already have some REBOL scripts running as CGI. Anyone that uses it could give me a hand? Thanks Carlos

I've had a similar experience as well, but thought it must be my abysmal lack of knowledge. I, too, would appreciate a tutorial on this topic. Please subscribe to the Vanilla mailing list, aptly named vanilla-pudding: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vanilla-pudding/ Usually you'll get help rather quickly there, especially once you describe your problem a bit more toroughly (what specific errors you're getting &c.) - most of the time it boils down to wrong paths and missing permissions ... Best regards, -- Chris

It's permissions 99% of the time. You have to understand Unix/Linux permissions as well as Apache permission controls. Running it first on Windows is maybe an easier way to play with Vanilla. http://httpd.apache.org/docs/windows.html I seem to remember a download which did not require compiling Apache. Anyone ? [I need to work off-line for a while so it would be very helpful.] It would be *great* if there was strong package which bundled Vanilla with a web server written in Rebol. I am not sure what the obstacles/requirements are for such a creature..? Would love to hear about this. Rugby+Vanilla maybe My impression is still that multi-threading is an obstacle to an performant web server. But happy to be proven wrong about that notion. Can anyone clue me in about this aspect of Rebol and how it might also vanilla. thanks - Jason
