Installationproblems on Win XP Prof
[1/4] from: moeller_thorsten::GMX::De at: 1-Sep-2003 11:40
Hi,
i downed the latest Version of /View from reboltech.com and wanted to
install it on my Win XP Prof machine. Clicking on the executable just result in
starting the console, but i am missing the installation process where you make
email, Path an network settings. When i open the desktop and want to go to
the user settings the desktopm crashes.
Anybody knows this behaviour??
Cheers
Thorsten

I haven't experienced your problem, but entering set-user at the
console is supposed to take you directly to the user-settings window
- no need to go through the Desktop. That might allow you to set
your settings, which might, (perhaps:), fix your other problems.

View 1.2.10 is an experimental release and the user setup is known
not to work. As long as you have the options set up correctly in
your user.r file this should not be a problem. Notice that you can
do the installation process via View 1.2.8 or 1.2.1 and use 1.2.10
normally.
Regards,
Gabriele.

Yes, you can have the different executables
in the same directory. For example:
user.r
view1208031.exe ; run this first time causes install
view1210031.exe ; no install
I do this with many versions of view and no problems.
(I have core versions in a different directory, though.)
Anton.
