Hello Richard.
The Official Guide is the best of the books, IMO.
Other good documentation is unfortunately rare.
There only are 4 books ...
Offical Guide
View User Guide
Command User Guide (View Guide + 2 or 3 chapters at the end)
Rebol for Dummies (beginners only)
They are also all in need of an update.
arra best,
Gawain

It's kind of boring because the subject is a
simple database... But having said that I am glad I
got it. I read about half of it and learned
quite a few things that I didn't know before.
It has a very good introduction to rebol,
and discusses series, which is at the heart
of rebol.
(Mmm.. it's those simple database examples that
fail to excite the reader. I think it's a fact
of life I have to face.)
Anton.

Olivier Auverlot: Programmation REBOL.
A french book from Edition Eyrolles. From the Eyrolles site you can
download some sample chapters and the source code of the examples.
I've just bought it in Bruxelles and I think it is worth every euro
:-) (40 or so).

'Dummies' is, yeah, intended for beginners, but it's also a good quick ref.
And of course they all need updating - they need updating every time REBOL
is updated. However, it's really not worth it to update a print item until a
major change of content or time - ie, 6mos and REBOL/Core 2.7, or wait until
/Core 3, that sort of thing. Especially with as little exposure as REBOL
really has (compared to, say, Java).

The best book -and most complete- IMHO is theone written by Olivier
AUVERLOT:
http://membres.lycos.fr/rebolfrance/livre/livre.html
It's a very good tutorial, and can be use as quick reference (I mean: it has
an useful and well constituted index).
For now, it's the only book I know which talks about /View :)
For about 45 EUR you will learn a lot, if you can understand French ...

Pardon.
I stand corrected. There are indeed 5 books.
The french language is, so I'm told, both
elegant and descriptive but I unfortunately can't
read or write it.
All the english books (incl. "dummies") were helpful
for me to start with and still are as reference works.
However the steep learning curve that comes after mastering
the one-liners can only be climbed by reading the web-docs,
peoples scripts and this very helpful and friendly list.
So thanks to one and all for that.
arra best,
Gawain

August 2002
. How up-to-date will it be? Will it cover View 1.3 for
instance, (perhaps written to coincide with its release), or just
1.2? (And has it an index?;)
Glad it's coming to the English-speaking world, anyway.
