Rebol/View/Runtime with HTTPS?
[1/4] from: dvydra2::yahoo at: 29-Jun-2001 21:28
Does anyone know if there will be a Rebol/View/Runtime
with HTTPS? I assume /Runtime will hide the source
code. Will this be a "free player" just like a Web
Browser or a RealAudio player?
How will RT make money if the client is free and the
server is written in java? Perhaps, RT can enable
HTTPS only if the REBOL program contains a key that
will be given to paying licensees.

I think it's planned. It will be a runtime for
Rebol/Command/View

Hi!
I've talked with Cindy about Runtime and she told me about a new release of
RT, called Encap, this application will allow us to distribute .exe files.
Cheers!,

Randon,
Thanks for the info. I suppose this .exe file will
contain the entire REBOL runtime. What I need is an
application "player" that a user downloads once and
that will "play/run" scripts from different sources,
just like a RealPlayer. It needs to have https support
-- it does not need a desktop or email capabilities by
default. So, if eBay and Yahoo and many others deside
to offer a REBOL/View interface along with their Web
UI, there has to be a way to install REBOL once and
just download scripts from these vendors, not the
entire REBOL runtime many times over. Of course there
has to be a way for RT to charge for this. I am
curious if anyone is thinking in the same direction?
Regards,
David
