Hi everyone :) I added 337 screen shot images to the tutorial at: http://musiclessonz.com/rebol_tutorial.html There's also a .pdf version (469 pages): http://musiclessonz.com/rebol_tutorial.pdf The makedoc text file is here: http://musiclessonz.com/rebol_tutorial.txt I left a copy without images at: http://musiclessonz.com/rebol_tutorial--4-4-08--no_images.html Links to all 68 YouTube videos are here: http://musiclessonz.com/rebol_video_links.html I'll continue to maintain the concise version of the tutorial, without any images, here: http://musiclessonz.com/rebol.html http://musiclessonz.com/rebol.txt The "Rebol for Kids" program is at: http://musiclessonz.com/rebol_for_kids.exe http://musiclessonz.com/rebol_for_kids.r An old .exe version of the original tutorial is here: http://musiclessonz.com/rebol_tutorial.exe And downloadable examples from the tutorial, in .exe format, are here: http://musiclessonz.com/rebol_tutorial_examples.zip Hopefully, the new images will make the tutorial a bit more friendly and interesting to look at :) Please let me know if you have any questions, corrections, etc. Thanks! - Nick Antonaccio

Excellent work as always! Two thoughts: 1) Is there any way to break the tutorial into multiple pages? The screenshots are very helpful, but add noticeably to load time and length. That length could be intimidating for ... well, anyone really :-) 2) Do you need screenshots for the examples that strictly involve console input/output? A PRE block would probably work just as well. Hi Brian :) Thanks for the thoughts - maybe it's appropriate to divide it into sections now. I had always just wanted people to be able to download and save the whole thing in one shot. It's no biggie to do it both ways... Maybe I'll make a little script to create several versions from the original makedoc source, and then turn that into another case study :) Quoting Brian Wisti <brian.wisti-gmail.com>:

Hi Nick, NA> I added 337 screen shot images to the tutorial at: Wow! Very cool Nick. I agree that it may be a bit long with all those images. I guess most folks are on high speed connections these days, but still... In any case, it's awesome work. Thanks for doing it. --Gregg

Nick, These videos are great! Thanks! One thing you should know about youtube, is if you add "&fmt=18" to the end of a url, it makes it higher quality, so you can read all the text easily (but it comes at a speed cost as it takes longer to load). See the difference in quality between the two vids below http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=mgcOIvHRRz8 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=mgcOIvHRRz8&fmt=18 Joshua On Mon, Apr 14, 2008 at 12:40 PM, Gregg Irwin <gregg-pointillistic.com> wrote:

Cool, thanks Joshua :) I never knew that - I added new links to the list of tutorials at: http://musiclessonz.com/rebol_video_links.html And thanks to Jack Seay, they're also available as one single video, instead of 68 separate links, at the site below (thanks Jack!): http://omnisio.com/v/xumrz8rdjhG/rebol-programming-tutorials-by-nick-antonaccio Quoting Joshua Shireman <kealist-gmail.com>:

Thank you. I read the first version some years ago and found it very helpful. I am looking forward to reading the updated version. I always found REBOL extremely difficult for some reason. I think the reason was that I kept looking for things that I assumed had to be there (key words, punctuation, data declarations) and when I couldn't find them I had no idea what I was looking at. Documentation for a normal person (or perhaps a person mentally mutilated by years of other programming languages) is a very valuable service.
