A bit of off topic... There is a commercially released definately not hacked Linux PDA. It called Agenda VR3. I had the chance to play with one a few weeks ago. It had some nice features, but it was a disappointment to me because of it's lack of feel and responsiveness. Also the software was not there yet. Having said that I must say that it sure shows a lot of promise. Still off topic ;)

Yep, now that you mention it I remember ;) It didn't get good reviews from online pda sites if I can remember correctly. I haven't tried to "install" linux on my windowsce devices though, and I'm not sure I want to risk the procedure. However whatever handheld device who'll get Rebol/View first, I'll probably jump on it. In the meanwhile, I'll keep core on wince... but a sony vaio would be most interesting ;) Best, Chris

Quoted from the article : ...However, Palm said it has no plans to further develop the Be operating system as a standalone OS. ... Quite sad news. It's really a shame that a so cool and well designed OS didn't succeeded ! It reminds me the end of Amiga... Regards, DocKimbel. Petr Krenzelok wrote:

Wrong. Amiga is continuing its OS development towards native PPC implementation, adding things as MP, VM, etc. AmigaDE (aka Intent) will be integrated later as a layer in AmigaOS ... As for AmigaOS author, I think that he is currently building what he would like to be his Amiga - it is called REBOL :-) Cheers, -pekr-

If Palm uses BeOS as the basis of its new handheld OS, it will be good news, I'd much rather see a solid and stable multimedia OS like beos on a hand-held than WinCE. And at least we know REBOL runs on BeOS. I'm glad RT didn't waste a lot of time on trying to do the palm port. Cheers, Allen K

Hi, Although I have heard of the forthcoming of the "solid and stable multimedia OS" for the past three years by many Palm, Microsoft or Psion and even Linux advocates, I have yet to see a really good handheld OS. However, after having experiment with PalmOS, EPOC, WindowsCE/PocketPC (we have yet to see a commercial-released-ie-not-hacked Linux PDA), I can sincerely say that the latest release of WindowsCE (PocketPC) is probably the best to what you call solid and stable multimedia ... + it run Rebol/Core What is the now : the now is you can run Rebol/Core on WindowsCE ! What is the possible future : you may run Rebol on PalmOS running a BeOS variant ! What I think rebolers should look forward : eZaurus with AmigaDE running Rebol ! Until then, let me stick with my PocketPC and other WindowsCE devices, because my other PDAs were either given as gifts, sold or traded : atleast I can code on the road ;) Best, Chris

If you cruise on over to www.amiga.com you will find that the Amiga PPC, AmigaDE, & AmigaOS4.0 are scheduled to be released before 4th Quater. Enjoy!!
