Web hosting provider with REBOL support?

 [1/5] from: sanction2023::yahoo::com at: 26-Feb-2002 16:57

I will be needing to set up a site for my business in the next day or so, and need some recommendations of any US based hosting providers that support REBOL scripting without having to pay for a dedicated server to get it. It seems the old page of web hosting providers is no longer avaliable. I would really appreciate any help or ideas. Marc

I've searched occasionally for web-hosts advertising REBOL support and they're thin on the ground, though these two have been around for a while... http://www.cniweb.net/wh_sb.html www.happysite.net/ (Though I can't currently get to Happysite.) However, going by previous messages on this list, it seems many hosting providers are happy to help you get REBOL up and running if you want it. Others here no doubt will reply, but you could try just picking a few hosts that look okay to you and asking them if they're happy to provide REBOL support. They'll lose a potential customer if they're not willing to, after all. -- Carl Read

Amen to that. cniweb is my hoster and provides excellent service. So far on linux, but I'm sure that they would host rebol binary on NT too. They also have sun servers.

My webhost has allowed me shell access, and I stuck REBOL in ~/rebol/ .. no problem. I just set up my REBOL CGI scripts to go there. Other than that.. *shrugs* If there's more that I'm not following here, leme know.

I have been using superb.net I simply uploaded rebol and got on with it. I imagine you can do that a lot of places since rebol is so quick'n'easy to install :-) You'll need to determine what OS and version the server is. Also need a telnet or SSH login to set permissions, though increasingly providers aer offering via java-web interfaces for management. For cgi some insist on s specifed cgi folder or ernameing your scripts with .cgi suffix. REbol does not care about this. And you may find the hsot provider does not even though they say they do. Also depending no what you aer doing you might need to tweak Apache directives by adding a .htaccess file in a folder to control how rebol is handled. ./Jason
