Hello rebolist,
as the subject says "will the tech readers over on doom9 with try
and make a GUI i wonder!"
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=849863#post849863
this is one of my final attempts to see if anyone even remotely interested
in GUI making/using front ends for any of the video encoders will
take up the challenge and even comment on my pointing them to
rebol/view once again, never mind actually trying to make even a
simple fully working basic frontend for H/x264
many of these doom9 people/readers are pros when it comes to video
encoding and even they cant be bothered to look at rebol/view to
make their front ends and would rather use the likes of Delphi and
.NET than try rebol/view it seems.
as not even one single working example /view GUI encoder script
exists, then the futures non existent to even show these readers how
you can make good or even excellent pro looking GUIs that they might just
see and take notice of, and how it was scripted, hence makeing /view
exciting to them (if only a few to begin with) then , im just about
finished trying to advocate rebol as a gui that everyone can learn
and use every day.
do a search on gui and rebol view sometime and you will find nothing
and noone but me, advocating it to these types of pro peoples and
their readers, so thats it for me if nothing changes soon.

In my experience, advocating anything means absolutely nothing to anyone. I
haven't read any of your posts, so I don't mean to imply anything about them
(in particular).
But most "hey, someone should take up the challenge and do X!" posts are
nothing more than "hey, I would like this, but don't want to do the work, so
could someone else do it for me?" posts.
Would I like to see REBOL/View used more? Yes. Do I think it's ready for
prime-time? No (something as simple as resizing is an absolute bitch). But,
if you'd like to "advocate" to the rest of the world to use it, you need to
prove to them that it is a viable alternative to what they already know
works - not ask others to do so for you.
Just my 2 cents.

Yep, I was just about to say the same thing.
If it is found that advocacy is becoming difficult,
this indicates that desire for the existance of something
exceeds the reality of the situation by too much, therefore
adjustments to standard procedure need to be made.
My suggestion is to increase the coding:advocacy
ratio until the situation becomes more balanced.
