[REBOL] Re: will the tech readers over on doom9 with try and make a GUI i wonder!

On 7/8/06, david may <david.may10-ntlworld.com> wrote: many of these doom9 people/readers are pros when it comes to video encoding and even they cant be bothered to look at rebol/view to make their front ends and would rather use the likes of Delphi and .NET than try rebol/view it seems. as not even one single working example /view GUI encoder script exists, then the futures non existent to even show these readers how you can make good or even excellent pro looking GUIs that they might just see and take notice of, and how it was scripted, hence makeing /view exciting to them (if only a few to begin with) then , im just about finished trying to advocate rebol as a gui that everyone can learn and use every day. In my experience, advocating anything means absolutely nothing to anyone. I haven't read any of your posts, so I don't mean to imply anything about them (in particular). But most "hey, someone should take up the challenge and do X!" posts are nothing more than "hey, I would like this, but don't want to do the work, so could someone else do it for me?" posts. Would I like to see REBOL/View used more? Yes. Do I think it's ready for prime-time? No (something as simple as resizing is an absolute bitch). But, if you'd like to "advocate" to the rest of the world to use it, you need to prove to them that it is a viable alternative to what they already know works - not ask others to do so for you. Just my 2 cents. Jeff M. -- massung-gmail.com
