OT: From field broken?

 [1/5] from: robert:muench:robertmuench at: 27-Oct-2003 14:37

Hi, I'm using Opera as mail client and it stripps the first letter of my name. Is this effect seen by others too? I see "Robert M. ünch" instead of Robert M. Münch ... Robert

I use Opera (v7.11) as well and I can see your name completely, though it is inserted into two double quotes like: Robert M. Münch"" <[robert--muench--robertmuench--de]> Have a look at your mail settings. M&F

Hi Robert, I see this under Opera as well. I wonder if this has anything to do with the umlat character? I'll see if mine goes through cleanly ;) Regards, Ashley

Hi, what do you see as well? The missing character or that it all shows up OK? I can see your name without any problems. Robert

Hi Robert,

Came through clean for me, so much for that idea. I think someone else pointed to the fact that the mail header from you appears in the form: From: ""Robert M. Münch"" I've checked mine and a few others (using Opera's "Display all headers" option) and none of them have any quotes like yours does (perhaps your mail server adds them?). I also tried adding "" to my email "Full Name" but they are stripped off when I get them back. Next step might be for you to email yourself, changing the "Full Name" each time and looking at the returned headers, until you can isolate the trigger condition. Good luck ;) Regards, Ashley
