Surely the more file formats that can be read the better? Some kind of
universal loader like the one Wolf Faust wrote for PageStream would be
ideal. This would be too big to include in the View executable, though.
Although ILBM is limited, there's no reason why IFF can't support all
the features of PNG. It is an open-ended format, well designed for
parsing. It is more or less a binary equivalent of XML, as the chunks
can be nested.
