I'd say that each agent has its own goal, decided by the user that
creates it. Evolution, as you say, would need some sort of
selection, but I'm already scared of the complexity that a network
of a million places populated by some hundred million agents could
represent... ;-) We're not even close to a human brain, but the IW
can grow with no particular limits (except for available
hardware/bandwidth)...
