I know that your question was directed at Robert's friend (The Browser Wizard),
but I spent several hours at Microsoft's site looking for reasons and
work-arounds. No luck so far .... :-(
The RealPlayer plugin can be embedded in the browser or launched separately.
When launched separately, the linking page stays put, so, of course, it *can* be
done. But how? It appears to be an ActiveX (a.k.a. list soooooooo long that it
is pointless to list!) component. I looked for other plugins that had similar
behavior and are open source, and have not yet found one. Here is a shot in the
dark: Is it possible that Microsoft's MFC foundation class for ActiveX addesses
this issue? Just a thought.
