[REBOL] Rugby back to BSD license: with an explanation

From: m::koopmans2::chello::nl at: 19-Jan-2002 15:02

All, Thank you for your comments / support. I changed Rugby back to the BSD license, and it will be that way forever. Why? I feel Rugby is good, it is better than I expected that I could do in some ways. However.... it is not (nor will it be) my primary source of income. So I like it better if it is widely used. I hope it will open up possibilities for other people to do things they now find too hard or unimaginable. Even commercially. That will make some things better in some ways, which is a good (and sometimes) necessary thing. My original reason for the BSD license (and my great example) was the TCP/IP stack. With the GPL it would have been harder to get that far, with a proprietary license as well , I think (if you disagree, please do that in silence ;-) So it is back under BSD, but I added a donation option. If you feel it has done something for you, feel free to give whatever it was worth to you. And an email will do as well as some $$$ (although that has benefits as well ;-). Spread the word, enter the Rebolution. Let's play Rugby. --Maarten
