Hi Frederic
I too have little experience with Ports. But Yes I am very interested in
learning for similar reason to you... I love Flash5, and agree the xmlsocket
without XML garbage is likely to be powerful complement to REBOL. We are
thinking along similar direction this far then :-) I tried to get the good
folks on flashcoders interested in REBOL+Flash but zero fish yet!

Do you know XML-RPC for REBOL: rebXR
http://earl.strain.at/space/rebXR
offers some other insights and alternatives.. nice.
More likely for you interests, have you experiemented with rugby yet?

<quote blurb on REBOL Force>
Rugby - The REBOL request broker
Rugby is a request broker completely written in Rebol. It does all things
you can do with SOAP like technology, plus many more... You can use it to
build Internet services in an afternoon, or write distributed applications
such as file sharing, chatting, etc. Rugby will help you to do this in an
extremely short timeframe

Rugby is the REBOL toolkit for managing all your port i/o.
One advatange is you can test adn develop in REBOL. Then add Flash so you
won't wonder waht the fuck is wrong on two ends at the same time.
There are since nice parallels between ActionScript arrays and REBOL blocks
which may be very useful, especially if by-passing verbose XML.
If you haven't already, maybe you should order a copy of Olivier Auvleot's
new french language REBOL book:
http://rebolfrance.multimania.com/livre/livre.html
The first book to market covering REBOL/View
French translation REBOL user guide + docs: YES good idea.
Mutlilingual REBOL docs ni general would be wonderful.
I am certain REBOL would be HUGE SUCCESS in Japan and Korea for example.
Korea is so wired, and people are smart and quick to recognize cool new
internet technology ideas and tools. The conciseness and style of REBOL
seems to match well Asian sentence structure / philosophy..
China internet is growing very fast too. REBOL might be an valuable offset
to nwe people-people internet design ideas adn applications there, and help
them sensibly against over-centralization or over-zealous i-censors.
I feel even that it sometimes matches the word order French a little more
than English in some ways. Love to hear your thoughts on this.
tell me more about your project..
