In basic rule.. it must be unique and contain enough information to track it back to sender. I think you need to look up some RFC documents to see what actual requirements are. Those are available on may places in Web... Like This is one used so many years New version seems to be available.. This one has good explanation on chapter: 3.6.4. Identification fields Joanna
