OK, sorry to bother the list about it. As I think about it, this has been discussed before. 
Guess I was just confused that
>> native? :==
== false

but:
>> source ==
==: native [
    {Returns TRUE if the values are equal and of the same datatype.}
    value1 value2
]

'== is op!:
>> op? :==
== true

so that explains it.
