I'm trying to get a handle on the product offerings of RT. I've been playing with core, and now a little bit with view...it appears that I don't really need both environments, as view seems to be a superset of core. Am I right so far? As far as the commercial versions go, can someone explain to us neophytes what view/pro vs. express vs. command offer? I think I need to actually purchase command if I want to do any SQL type activity, but do I need a flavor of view still, or what? Guess I'm asking for the map of how it all fits together. Here's some of it, with the understanding that this is from `Just Another User's' POV. Core - The Engine that `does' REBOL View - Very nice display technology built `on top' of Core with all sorts of `viewing' enhancements. I think it produces what might be called a `dialect' of REBOL - i.e. extensions to the CORE language that deal with managing `view'-oriented stuff. View/Pro - Unlocks some features that are turned off in regular View. The ones I use are some encrypt/decrypt oriented stuff and facilities to make command-line-like calls to pre-existing executables. Command - Full strength everything for developers, enterprises. Includes stuff for server-side applications. Express - Don't think it's listed as a `product' any longer. IOS - just getting defined. Appears to be an `Internet BIOS' where the basic components are web constructs. Others can probably find better words for this, but I figure if I try, then I'll at least get corrected where my thoughts are incorrect...

Yes please. As a map lover I would love to 'see' something too. A simple back of a napkin sketch will do for starters. If anyone cares top contribute some ideas, I will gladly work them up a little and make versions available via the Rebol page I am preparing. Napkin scans or any graphic fomat taken Can create .swf .pdf .gif etc.. and of_course .r A simple map of tech/product I have seen recently is the one Viewpoint put together. If you are new to their products this map is really helpful, becuase it addresses both product and basic workflow questions http://viewpoint.com/developerzone/5-2pict.html - Jason
