powered by logo...

 [1/16] from: gchiu:compkarori at: 23-Dec-2000 13:40

Anyone have a good looking 'powered by Rebol' logo? The logos RT's site don't have the words powered by apart from the one on their main page. It's going on to my tv script page at http://www.compkarori.com/tv/index.html ( which uses Ralph's style sheet :-) ) -- Graham Chiu

I don't have a 'powered by REBOL' logo, but I'm trying out your TV program notification page though. The input worked very well. Will let you know what I think of the emails it sends. Where's the privacy policy, though? Things could be embarrasing if people's lists get out. (:

Good.

I think there's a problem - it is currently sending out a notification at about 4am local time, and a duplicate at 7am. I'm only activating the script once as far as I know.

Server is in Texas I think. Somewhat distant from New Zealand privacy laws. But I take your point. I'll formulate a policy and post one. The thing was just set up for me and my local relatives - so I hadn't thought it thru when I opened it up to Joe Public. I am also told that some Amiga browsers don't show the style sheets at all - AWeb apparently for one. This is what it looks like on Netscape http://www.compkarori.com/tv/page.gif -- Graham Chiu

You could try at the bottom left of the page at http://www.starforge.co.uk/reblist/ - my nearly-working Rebol User and Rebol Friendly ISP list, I only have to do the webring images before it can "go live"... Any comments on the format/layout would be appreciated too :) Chris -- New sig in the works Explorer 2260, Designer and Coder http://www.starforge.co.uk -- God is Dead -- Nietzsche Nietzsche is Dead -- God

Actually, I'd be more worried about what the TV stations think of your page than Joe Public. Hopefully none of them will get heavy with you.

AWeb, Voyager and IBrowse all render the page in much the same way. (Just looked.) The spider and REBOL images are displayed but the background pattern isn't, and the text is laid out quite simply - not in nice boxes as with Netscape. I don't think any Amiga browsers handle style-sheets yet - certainly not AWeb and IBrowse. I wouldn't worry too much about it though, as your page works fine with them, even if it doesn't look as flash as it might. It was IBrowse I entered my email and TV info with and the thank-you page showed it'd received it all okay. Now if only my video-recorder was REBOL-enabled... (:

It looks very nice. Should become very useful too once it's fully up and running. Good work.

Thanks, it's gettin there. Now if I could just get some inspiration for the webring images I'd finish it off :)) Chris -- New sig in the works Explorer 2260, Designer and Coder http://www.starforge.co.uk -- They're only trying to make me LOOK paranoid!

Perhaps I could get a commission for doing what they should be doing :-)

Well, I'm working on that ... sort of. I downloaded some source to controlling an IRDA port, and if I can convert that to Rebol, I may be able to program my VCR with Rebol via my laptop. So, my TV script will ultimately control my VCR. -- Graham Chiu

Thanks Chris, that will do nicely :-)

Are those links to Rebol users/sites, or to an Amiga web ring? I went to a couple of links, and nothing obviously Rebol about them ... -- Graham Chiu

Aha - of course. (: The emails I received didn't give a time for the TV programmes though. Is that in the works? Though there was only a Prime show given, and perhaps Prime don't give you the times on their site? -- Carl Read [carl--cybercraft--co--nz]

Hi Carl, I'm using Stuff.co.nz's site for the prime listings .... does Prime have a site?? Can you forward the message it sent. It should have the time as well, unless something was screwy with stuff's site. -- Graham Chiu

Oops, found the problem. I made a small change last night, and put in a 'remove rather than 'replace. -- Graham Chiu

Ah - don't know. Will do a search... Yep... http://www.primetv.co.nz/ Listings are there too. Have fun. (:

Just had a look. Very messy listings. I need today's listings on a single page to parse out the data. Someone should tell these guys they need to make their data more accessible - XML etc <g> -- Graham Chiu

Heh, yeah - the site still has a load of test data imported from my PureAmiga web ring. I've already got some submissions for the Rebol User List so I'll be replacing the test data sometime in the next week.
