DOC Wish list Add-ons Was-->Re: Problem with CGI

Hi All,
May I suggest 4 simple add-ons to our way of doing things COLLECTIVELY :
1 - That we add some review, annotation and/or reference mechanism to the actual and
future submitted libray scripts with some
possible added log listing the problems encountered by everyone who tried them in the
past.
This would avoid to repeat the same errors again and again - when they have been fixed
like the one in this recent thread.
Just another REBOL HEADER line named : Follow-up or something else that would contain
some URL like REBOL.ORG for SCRIPT-ID #00125
for example seems fine to me.
Any reaction or suggestion ?
2- Each one of these Library scripts could (or should) even become the start of some
discussion on the many forums all around and
the reverse is true too in some way - may be suggest to study all what concerns about
one general theme at a time weekly or monthly.
I know some regular members exchange their knowledge with other Forum members and this
is welcome but what would we say of having
some availability schedule not based on days and relied upon a single member but spreaded
over longer periods and relied on 2 or
three members which could participate more frequently during some well identified periods
and could be rotated on the fly if needed
but could be asked explicitly when specicif help is needed even if they can't look around
on a regular basis. I don't plan anyone to
manage this but may be on a voluntary basis we could better plan our collective action
if and when needed.
3- This could also attract more resources to our ML if we put at their disposal some
AUTOMATIC way (link to URL) to search for and
view our mail msgs, Library notifications and other stuff we could export to them to
keep them informed vie their respective FORUM
or Web Site...
3- That is I saw some nice small scripts that should be sent here in the official library
to illustrate some How-to. Many of us on
an individual basis are looking all-around to find these small hard to find additional
resources.
4- I also think we should have some official REBOL submit box installed inside any existing
outside REBOL site for their members or
authors being able to automatically send, reference or even notify the OFFICIAL REBOL
Automated Librarian when any newly created or
revised scripts appear as posted on their REBOL Sites.
(Something like the REBOL.ORG's RECENT CHANGES the Librarian send us regularly would
be enough if it was installed on each of
these sites without them having to develop anything - we could share the code with them
to help this GLOBAL SHARING start). I partly
reproduced below what I talk about :
[REBOL] [REBOL.org] Recent changes
This is an automatic email from REBOL.org, the REBOL Script Library to notify you of
recent changes to the Library.
=======changes=======
arcfour.r
--change: new script
--title: ARCFOUR and CipherSaber
ngbg.r
--change: discussion post(s) made
--title: National Geographic Image of the Day Downloader
At least this way any new stuff each external REBOL site is producing should also be
officially announced HERE in the official
LIBRARY. And our objective to group under one roof all the existing REBOL material or
reference that is of public nature would go a
step further. Some filtering (and may be testing) would be necessary before final acceptance
but nevertheless in the worst case it
would produce some material like the one described recently by ZikZak. Some small glitches
that limit the usefulness of some
material without having to trouble spot what doesn't function on a first try. - For any
newbie this is generally too much even if
after some time this is perfectly satisfactory to let it so for further study.
May be for the moment this could simply be added to our Library add-on Wish list and
worked on later ... when more urgent stuff is
completed. And there is a lot of !!!
Regards,
Gerard

Hi Gerard,
I don't have time to think deeply about your suggestions, or respond
well, right now, but I'll flag your message for use in our discussions
about how to improve REBOL.org and community resources in general.
Thanks!
