[ALLY] Screen Fetch

 [1/7] from: ptretter:charter at: 29-Jul-2000 20:40

Is there any way to fetch the current resolution of the video display in order to resize the output of the viewable face. Im trying to avoid hardcoding dimensions. Paul Tretter Pauls REBOL Page

You can look at system/view/screen-face/size but in Beta 4.1 this only gives the resolution at the instant when REBOL/View is started: if the screen resolution is changed while an instance of REBOL/View is running system/view/screen-face/size is not updated. Derek Simmers

Hi Paul, from the view-faq http://www.janita.com.au/rebolforces/reb/view-faq.html#section-3 [ 3.1. Q. Where can I find the screen size? A. The screen-size is in the top level face object system/view/screen-face/size Note this is the resolution screen size pair and not the usable area, so you should account for things such as taskbars. ] Cheers, Allen K

I think Internet is just plain falling apart. Yesterday I got a reply to a message that I wrote on Feb/20/2000. The fellow said he replied the same day as I wrote it, as I asked him yesterday what the deal was. He was as clue less as I was. It is now Sun Jul 30 14:38:43 2000:.

I guess its a limitation at this point. Another problem is how do you get /hide refinement capability with a "field" function.

Wow must be a stack of email gone missing..I sent an answer to this 8 hours ago.. Just a note on system/view/screen-face/size. Do a test script to see if it is reporting the correct resolution. From some comments here a while back it seems the value isn't initialised until after the first face is shown on some platforms.(may have been fixed in beta 4.1 though) I know that the experimental BeOS/View has that problem. Wondering where your email is going? I registered the use of mike127@(not so!)hotmail and am getting an inordinate amount of mail - mostly spam but a lot of sensable talk about REBOL(?). If this is an address that you want to use seriously then we'd better talk. -No catch, I'll just delete my profile and change p/w to a no brainer and pass it your way. shout back Mike
