Other People's Stuff

The thing I am learning to enjoy about REBOL is it quickly allows me to
build web pages using content from other web pages.
Check out http://www.fargonews.com as an example.
The headlines are "borrowed" from Yahoo! and the music jukebox plays music
borrowed
from mp3.com

nice website but i wonder about something?
isn't the content you are borrowing copyrighted material????
i would be extremely careful about 'borrowing' content from any web page
without their express knowledge and approval, including legal documents
granting you permission to use their materials.

Since this is just an exercise in learning to parse with REBOL, I added
attribution to the page. The page now clearly states the news is from
Yahoo!

Well, it's a `fine line' isn't it.
I doubt if there is a problem (so long as appropriate attribution is forwarded), as
it strikes me as particularly difficult to break down any potential legal liability
between:
(1) whoever wrote the browser;
(2) REBOL
(3) whoever wrote the rebol code;
(4) whoever wrote the `transport mechanisms'
(5) the ISP involved in both sending and receiving;
etc. etc. etc.
so litigating it all might prove to be an expensive proposition.
Of course, given `The Supremes' willingness to engage in oddly
constructive logic none of us will know _until_ a case actually
gets docketed and fought.
As to the specific site, I found Opera handled it just fine, but it died
rather ingloriously on two different NetScape systems that I tried it on.
I have no idea, of course, if it is something `special' about my instillation or
something else, but it at least happened on more than just one system...
