hi,
Could the wait function be extended to wait on files?

how would this work for you? or rather, what would you be able to do
more easily if you had this capability?

Hi,
I think this would be useful too, but I'm not sure about portability.
UNIX can wait for any file handle, but Windows cannot directly wait for
socket handles. AmigaOS and Windows even support directory
notifications, your application gets a message whenever any file in
a directory changes.
