Platforms of Command 2.0

 [1/4] from: petr:krenzelok:trz:cz at: 26-May-2001 2:25

Hi, I just don't fully understand following: Command 2.0 lists QNX RtP and MacOSX amongst supported platforms, so it means View is supposed to run on them too.... Is that lack of free time or why there is not View and View/Pro for above mentioned platforms available? btw: is there any plan for additional database support, e.g. PostGressSQL (I was told it is "small" Oracle ... and free) and DB2 or others e.g.? Maybe RT could tell us what's planned for Rebol 3.0 :-) PS: OK, so the basic line is out - what's gonna happen next? Two months RT vacation? :-)) Thanks, -pekr-

No, there is a note on the order page that Command for QNX/RTP, MacOS X, Linux MIPS and SCO UnixWare only includes the server portion, not the View portion.

Yeah, right... :) -- Holger Kruse [holger--rebol--com]

Command 2.0 seems to be a "must have", Holger, and it's timing couldn't be better for me... so an applause (again) for RT. Now, after this innocent "captatio benevolentiae", a silly question and a couple of remarks :-) The silly question: being quite ignorant on *BSD platforms, I need a confirm that I can compose images (and/or generate a png on-the-fly for example) using Command 2.0 without having X-Windows installed on my, say, FreeBSD box. Did I understand this feature correctly? Two little remarks too. First, this time your web-page is almost perfect :-). Anyway, wouldn't be better to put the note you mention above also on the Command's presentation page? You'll avoid a delusion to some SCO/QNX/Cobalt/MacOSX potential customer, who discover he can have a crippled version only, while having his credit card in his hands already. Second, MacOSX Command version is missing in the drop-down list of the order page, while it is declared to be available on the presentation page. While I'm not too surprised, it is still an incongruence. Greetings -- Paolo Russo [pa--russo--perd--com] _________________ PERD s.r.l. Virtual Technologies for Real Solutions http://www.perd.com

Thanks :)

Yes. The regular Command 2.0 (not Command/View) contains the complete image compositing enginei, include all effects, and image load/save functions. It does not include text support though (that would require access to an X server) and does not include VID. Command 2.0 can be used without any X libraries.

Yes, probably :)

Thanks, I missed that when creating the config file for our new little shopping cart tool (written in REBOL, of course). Will be added. -- Holger Kruse [holger--rebol--com]
