update.r stopping connection?
[1/4] from: ammoncooke:yah:oo at: 31-Aug-2001 18:22
Hi,
I have been trying to get REBOL/View to connect to the internet, but it won't. I am
running proxy.r & this is what I see when REBOL attempts to connect:
==================== NEW CONNECTION ====================
Connection target: http://www.rebol.com/view/update.r
Parsed target: www.rebol.com view/ update.r
Opened port to: update.r
{GET /view/update.r HTTP/1.0^M
Accept: */*^M
Connection: close^M
User-Agent: REBOL 1.2.0.3.1^M
Host: www.rebol.com^M
^M
^M
}
& that is where it stops. Any suggestions?
Thanks!!
Ammon

I have not been following this thread, but try this:
1. Download rebol/core from rebol.com.
2. Type:
read http://www.rebol.com/view/update.r
If that works, then check your user.r and prefs.r files in
your view root directory. If they don't look right, rename
them to some other names (for backup reasons), and run view
again to create new ones.
I'm very curious about this problem, so keep us posted.

It gives me a network timeout error. I can connect, get my mail, surf the
web, but no REBOL connection, weird. Any Script I run not generated by
rebol accessing the REBOL website, but access the internet work fine. What
is up?
With the latest version of View - when I try to connect the progress bar in
the lower left hand pane shows for but a aplit second then disappears
without ever showing the "connecting to the internet..." string next to it.
after the little R gets *swirled*& a time or two, it says, cannot connect
click local to conect. But alas there is not local to click! I have copied
View from my laptop (ver 1.2.0.1.3.1) this fixed the disappearing
connecting progres/local problem, but didn't gain me access to the net.
Interesting trouble. ;D
Thanks!!

PS Carl where have you been? I have been trying to improve your layout.r
script with little success, so i decided to start all over with one of my
own. Please let me know if you can't help me.
