The struggle to find nice, accurate descriptions for some of REBOL's
more esoteric features reminds me of a sign hanging in my office.
Computer software developed here:
Good Fast Cheap
(Pick any two!)
I think we'd all agree that two general adjectives that *are* good
descriptions of REBOL are "compact" and "powerful". Accordingly,
I'm thinking about hanging another sign that reads:
Programming languages developed here:
Compact Powerful Simple
(Pick any two!)
I don't think it's a bad thing that REBOL is not simple, because I
really like the "compact" and "powerful" aspects and accept the
tradeoff. However, I *do* think it's a bad thing if we pretend
that the tradeoff doesn't exist.
I'm very grateful for the brave souls on this list who are willing
to confront that tradeoff and work together to minimize the
complexity of our (the community's) explanations and models of
REBOL. I learn from you daily.
Thank you for your stimulating thoughts, questions, challenges,
and discussions!
