Another serious 3D animation contender for MACROMEDIA'S FLASH
[1/4] from: gerardcote:sympatico:ca at: 17-Sep-2002 20:27
Hi REBOL list,
Did anyone already play with the relatively new Anark client for getting speedy and flashy
3D animation from another source than
Macromedia's Flash (or MX) ?
For those interested in such tools for comparing what REBOL graphics engine could eventually
look like ... get an eye at
www.anark.com

Gerard

Hi Gerard.
Yes I tried it. Interesting. I did not like it, but not sure why.
I much prefer Viewpoint's VET:
http://viewpoint.com/
http://viewpoint.com/index1.html?vp1&developerzone/5-0.html
Very good [free] support tools, excellent documentation, fast smooth
renderer/player, growing import/export support among all major 3D software.
Imho Viewpoint VET beats Cult3D, Shockwave3D, VRML, etc
A killer 3rd party utility for Viewpoint and lots more is Right Hemisphere's
'Deep Exploration'
check it out:

btw Blender is going openSource! What a story:

Thanks for the VET info. I'll try it as soon as possible...

Is it possible to generate dynamicaly the scene on the client side? Add, remove, move
objects? Comunnicate with a server? I don't see any examples of such a
kind.
BTW: the examples are really large (ziped cursor example = 2.1MB !)
I still like VRML (with CosmoPlayer) although it looks that the VRML is dying:(
