Rebol IDE written in Rebol

 [1/3] from: stasil213::yahoo::com at: 7-Aug-2004 10:54

(After a little delay) Here is a summary of the responses to my questions about a Rebol IDE written in Rebol. --Stan ============= Ammon Johnson RIDE I am currently working on an IDE for REBOL which I plan on releasing at the Developer's Conference in September ============= Christophe Coussement and Frangois Jouen RADIS (Rebol Advanced Development Interface System) RADIS includes a simple code editor, some utilities like "object inspector", styles list , integrated help, and a visual layout compositor (RADIS/Layout) with drag-and-drop functionalities, object duplication, resizing, dynamic properties change, etc... It should be distributed with the Olivier Auverlot's AltSDK release, about the same time as /View 1.3. ============= Maxim Olivier-Adlhoch Steel Steel tools are an integrated toolset. From advanced layout engine to code linking... ============= Anton Rolls Let the browser wars begin... :)

============= :-) Tim Johnson (no relation to Ammon that I know of) Let's take this IDE idea a step further.... How about an IDE written in Rebol that is compatible to any number of programming languages? The benchmark is emacs with elisp as the driving language. There is absolutley no way that I can imagine ever delivering all of my product 100% with rebol - based on contingencies that have nothing to do with rebol's advantages - * but * I would find it so much more productive (and enjoyable) to be enhancing my programming tools with rebol than with elisp or vim script. I would think that would also be a way to introduce more programmers to rebol. Just my $00.02 worth tim

Always was my long-term goal for steel... Actually, Forge, the framework that is part of the design, isn't really interested in code either. its a workbench on which you place tools. be it code editors an image modeler a document magager, an html CRM, whatever... but you get the feature that they all speak together, so you can add a code function which generates some data for you document with the image modeler desiging icons which is transparently linked into the application and its docs... just edit the icon, and it knows where to propagate the results... but forge as a tool is still some time away... good thing is that the core steel tools are progressing much more rapidly, now that I am starting to have some users and some feedback... and a little bit of documentation... -MAx
