Rebol and DB2

 [1/4] from: davidegessi:tin:it at: 21-Nov-2002 13:14

Hi all, this is my first post here.. but I'm a long-term lurker :) I'm developing a commercial application that have to transport records from DB2 tables to Oracle ones (and a lot of other trouble). I have 2 choices: 1) Use VB 2) Use Rebol (Rebol/command) I've used VB from VB 1.0 for dos (12 years ago) and now I feel a bit tired ... I would leave microsoft world and use Rebol to do this task, but before... I prefer ask to the list. 1) Did someone used rebol/command to work with DB2 archives, and if so... was all ok ? (while oracle is explicity supported, I didn't found nothing about DB2 in the rebol site) 2) Is Rebol strong enougth to make solid 24x7 application (ie. robust garbage collection) ? Thanks in advance. Davide

If you can access DB2 from ODBC on WIn32 you are fine. It then depends upon the quality of your ODBC driver. I'd say that REBOL is good enough for 24x7 (I have had applications running for months). HTH, Maarten Davide Gessi wrote:

I haven't done any big database stuff with REBOL, but I was a VBer for 11 years myself (v1-v6) before finding REBOL. We have some stuff that runs all the time, though we probably haven't left it running for more than a month or so between updates. Our IOS server runs all the time, and it's built on the same core technology, so I'm pretty confident in its stability. -- Gregg
