About the website

Ok. Some changes should be made on the website. The website products info should include links to personal and commercial license information prior to ordering. Additionally, the price for /View/Pro commericial license is $99. I'm curious if someone just buys /View/Pro for commericial purposes its cheaper than those of us that bought /View/Pro and now an additional $99 for the commerical license. Am I reading this right? I know RT is trying to fix alot of this and I just want to help out by providing my feedback. Do others agree? Paul Tretter

A license can't be changed AFTER the fact, right? Only on new versions. I mean, if I distributed 10,000 copies of older versions of core when "free" was the word, then what is one to do now? Tell them it's not free and now they have to pay? Are older versions of core/command, under the old licensing structure still free to distribute? They must be. I've never heard of a license changing AFTER the distribution. I don't think it's even an issue for the average user or the "hobbyist", but for those that are planning on distributing 100,000+ copies of their script. Were talking 10's of millions of dollars. (USD no less :) To determine the right licensing scheme must be tough, but trial and error is bad business practise. I purchased View/Pro when it came out. I was surprised to see the commercial license option appear; had assumed that was already covered. I find the current multiple product and licensing scheme confusing. So last weekend I sent a detailed letter to [info--rebol--com] about possible licensing questions for my potential projects, and am still awaiting an answer. I hope to hear back soon so I can make decisions about whether to recommend REBOL for possible small-scale commercial projects. Glad to see the recent interface How-To. Best Regards, -Jamie

Re: About the website/Licencing

I agree that we need better definions of licenses. Are commercial licenses per developer, per machine, per processor? Are runtime licenses no longer necessary for distribution of programs to consumers? The View/Pro license is confusing. I would just go with one price.
