To post or Not? was (Re: 42 (Was Rebol Unity ??))
[1/5] from: brett:codeconscious at: 22-Mar-2002 9:59
My understanding is that there is a large number of people on this list who
may have never posted. I know for myself I was on the list for a while
before posting a question because I was very unsure of my question. I
needn't have worried.
The great thing about this list is that 95% of the time there is someone
willing to answer a post no matter what it is.
There are a variety of people here with different levels of experience with
Rebol. I'd say that there's always someone interested in any given question.

I've been using Rebol for about a week now. Although I am new to Rebol, I
have extensive programming experience. I think this is one of the least
intimidating mailing lists around. I`ve already asked and had several
questions answered. Both quickly and politely.
Rebol however is a new approach in so many ways, I think a lot of people
are just trying to figure out why isn`t so confusing, assuming they must be
missing something. It reminds me of Smalltalk methods; Where is the work
getting done.
The language makes too much sense and it throughs you off. I find myself
looking for the confusing parts.

I have to agree with you a bit there. It totally blows me away at times.
My programming training, real training (aside from doodling in GW- and QBasic)
was in C. REBOL just throws me off so often. And having help for the
functions included right in the system... *argh!* I forget that part of it far
too often! :/

Hi Adrian,

When I find a script isn't working, I start taking things out. It seems like
once I've removed about half the code (or more), things work. It's easy to
make things much harder than they have to be.
