rebweb.r and webserv.r on Linux

 [1/4] from: mh9831:comcast at: 29-Jul-2003 17:12

Can anyone verify that rebweb or webserv, running on Linux, will work if you unplug your network connection? I still can't get it to work for me on Linux, but it works fine in Windows XP. I want to test rebweb (or webserv) for retrieving pages locally, with no connection present, but I always get:
> Access Error: Error opening socket listen port > Near: listen-port: open/lines join tcp://: port
I'm using the latest View (non-beta, non-pro). If it does work for you, have you modified rebweb or webserv or has it worked as-is? If I at least know it works for someone without modificiations to the script, then I can play around with my linux setup until I get it to work. But maybe it's a problem with View on linux? Thanks for your time. mike

I have made several modifications to webserv: two bug fixes and some customization. BUGS: 1.The list of file types contains 'none as association for"cgi" and "r". This list should be 'reduce-ed before use, otherwise the 'none stuff will be treated as words not as the values of datatype 'none. 2.Even when this is corrected files with no extension will not be treated as "default types". I forgot what I did to fix it (I am not at my desk now), but the fix was easy. I've been running it for several months now, both on Linux and on Windows 2000. Jan I can send you tomorrow a copy of the modified webserv if you wish. --- [mh9831--comcast--net] wrote:

Thanks for the response Jan. On Linux, have you ever tried disconnecting your network cable and then running webserv? That's when it fails for me. Jan Skibinski wrote:

Frankly speaking I do not remember for sure, but I think I run it once on the standalone Linux long time ago. I cannot verify it now because my Linux'es monitor has been damaged during a storm few weeks ago and I never had time to do anything about it. But I might be able to convince a friend to run such test for you. Jan _____________________________________________________________ Get an email address your friends will never forget... FREE!
